From quick washes to child locks, we are going to talk about common washing machine programs.
When choosing a washing machine, you’ll need to know what programs your washing machine has and learn about them from your merchant some washers are basic, and some are more innovative with extra programs offering higher quality washing and garments maintaining.
Let’s go through some of the most common washing machine programs and those that can be a real added worth looking out for if you’re shopping for a new model.
Synthetics or Cottons
Cotton programs are often hotter while synthetics programs run at lower temperatures of 40 ̊C or below, and spin less frequently.
Washing machines have separate programs for cotton and synthetics and sometimes just have different temperature settings with no specific program.
Synthetic programs, are also called (easy care), are designed for non-cotton garments such as polyester and viscose, that need a slightly more delicate wash.
Most washing machines have a cotton program but not necessarily synthetics however there are similar programs for delicates such as handwash and wool, and some provide all of these programs separately. Lucky for your we have models that offer all of these programs separately which makes it easier for you to set the washer for your load instead of choosing the best temperature and program to go with different garments and clothing.
Keep in mind the capacity is different for some of these programs.
Wool/ Delicates / Handwash
These are typically low temperature programs that’s have minimum spin rotations during washing to keep clothes from damaging, similar to synthetics.
However, make sure to check your clothing care label first as some clothing is recommended that you never use in a machine but dry clean.
Sports Program.
Some washing machines have this program, which is designed to wash microfiber sport clothing, remove sweat marks and odors by having longer wash cycles at a lower temperature as so not to damage the fabric. However any great washing machine is supposed to remove tough stains in a normal wash regardless the item.
Quick wash settings.
This program is the most popular and added as an option at many machines. As a quick wash or timer symbol these programs allow you to wash at a shorter time than normal for some it might be as little as 15 minutes.
Mostly use for clothes such as school uniforms and jeans. But beware that such programs only let you wash 1.5 kgs of clothes at once which is equivalent to two pairs of jeans.
Temperature programs.
All washing machines have temperature program settings for you to choose from as hotter programs to remove stains mostly used for bed sheets, cotton or whatever clothing labels recommend, and cooler programs for delicates and allow you to save money.
It will be set as straight forward program given as 30 ̊C, 40 ̊C, 60 ̊C and some up to 90 ̊C.
Delay/ Start program.
This program allows you to choose when the washer start washing, however some washers have an end programs where you choose when will the cycle finishes instead of when its starting.
Timer- remaining display and automatic detection.
some washing machines have a digital display panel that shows how much time does a cycle has left. Which is very useful for your knowledge to add clothing directly to dryer or out to dry.
In more advanced washing machines will detect how much is in the drum by weighing it and then provide an estimate on how long it will take to clean.
Childs Lock.
There are two types of child locks on washing machines:
- Function that can disengage all the controls on the panel where all programs cant be tempered with.
- A door safety lock which is less common, which will stop the door from being closed and undesired items are locked in the drum by a child.
Pre-ironing/ easy iron/ anti crease.
An iron program should help prevent creases in clothes by simply lowering the spin speed or shortening the spin cycle.
Some washing machines allows you to alter other programs by lowering spin speed or timing to prevent creasing without having a stand-alone anti crease or iron program.
Its usually a quite intensive wash program at high temperature, followed by several rinses to remove as much detergent as possible.
Or some people just set the temperature themselves.
Allergy and Hygiene.
This program is designed to remove allergens from clothing by keeping water temperature high or by steam in advanced washers. If you don’t have this program you can rely on cotton programs or 60 ̊C program to rid garments from bacteria and allergens.
ECO
This program should save energy; however, this program takes longer time than all programs to save money and water on lower RPM.
